MilKids Round-Up: Getting Ready for 2016

This calendar year is just about over. For teachers, this means just a few more days to relax (read: stress) before the second half of the school year starts. For parents, you have a few more days to entertain your children before you send them back to school.

To close out this year, I thought I would share a few of my favorite posts from 2015. Check the blurbs and links below to find (or rediscover) some of my personal favorites from my first not quite full year of education blogging!

Every blog below has been revamped with refreshed graphics. I would love to hear your feedback on the evolving look of MilKids!

Cheers! And read on for my top personal blog posts of the year!

Blog Round-Up

  • My personal favorite was one of my very first posts, How Momastry Changed My Teaching. In it I explore how one viral blog post transformed my classroom and gave me greater insights into my students.
  • Another personal post, Bullying Lasts Beyond Childhood, delved into my struggles with bullying and the after effects of that incident throughout my adult life.
  • After talking with other parents about their struggles with all the paper teachers send home, I felt moved to offer advice for new (or veteran) teachers who struggle with paper overload. An Appeal for Paper Sanity offers my own tested methods to control how much paperwork is being sent home.
  • Finally, everyone needs a little known trick in their back pocket for tough situations. Getting the IEP process rolling is difficult, but IEP Secrets: Testing walks parents through the process to request special education evaluations without jumping through all the hoops.

These are just a few of my own favorites, ones that were fun to write or deeply personal. Do you have any MilKids favs? Share in the comments section! Or tell me what you want to read about in 2016. In January, I’ll be starting a classroom refresh series.

Stay tuned for big things!

I agree that “Bullying lasts beyond childhood” was a strong and memorable post.

    Also:

The post about 9/11 – “When you’re the only one in the room who remembers” https://milkidseducationconsulting.wordpress.com/2015/09/11/when-youre-the-only-one-in-the-room-who-remembers/

    and

“I will do anything to save you”

…and so many more! Keep up the GREAT work!
